Anglesey is an island county across the Menai Strait from Bangor, joined to the mainland by Telford's suspension bridge and the Britannia Bridge, with Llangefni as its county town and Holyhead as its ferry port.
About 68,900 people lived on the island at the 2021 census. Much of its coastline is a National Landscape, circled by a 125 mile coastal path, and the Port of Holyhead links the island to Dublin. Anglesey Freeport, a joint project between the county council and Stena Line, went live in January 2025, and growing the island's economy, including the Welsh language, is one of the council's named priorities.
